Create an encaustic painting, then incorporate a tarry substance within your work to create depth and dramatically enhance the texture. Allow the rich, deep brown to create an artistic juxtaposition between the shiny gloss of the wax and the earthy matte of the tar. Work with bolder colors by subtly muting and softening their intensity. After the in-class exploration of the substance and process, leave with a bit of the tar medium” to try on other works.

Encaustic classes are designed to stand alone or build upon each other, so feel free to pick and choose or sign up for them all.
