Art by ArtWorks Artist Rick Utt
Recently I read an article which made the statement that people who seem to be the happiest in their lives are individuals who can discover things that fill them with a sense of AWE. This can be a beautiful sunset, or a winter sunrise that lights up a fresh cover of snow on the Olympic Mountains.
Living here in the Puget Sound area, one can look in almost any direction and find AWE. We should be some of the happiest people on the planet!
This last year I was looking around Edmonds (the local center of the art world in my opinion) for an art class that I might be interested in. What I discovered was ArtWorks in Edmonds, where I found a group of very friendly and extremely helpful individuals whose creativity and artwork quite often fill me with a sense of AWE!
AWE can be found on the streets of Edmonds. A few days ago, I noticed two mothers with two toddlers and a baby in a stroller standing at a street corner. They appeared to be waiting to cross the street, when all of a sudden a fire department ladder truck came down the street. The truck surprisingly pulled over, and a fireman hopped out of the truck and started talking to the moms and the kids. He then picked up the kids and let them sit in the truck. Once the kids were back on the ground, I heard one of the mothers say to the other one, “I can’t believe that they would do that!” They were in AWE of what just happened and so was I!
If you are looking for art happiness and inspiration, then each day look for that “something “that will fill you with AWE! And if you are an artist, check out Artworks for a community of artists that will fill you with awe.
