Introduction to Watercolor
This introduction to Watercolor is for those of you who:
- Have always wanted to try watercolor.
- Want to act on New Years’ Resolution to be expand creatively
- Are looking for the basics of how to work with the magic of a water-based medium
Each 2-hour class will include the basics of color mixing, using different papers, problem solving, and using watercolor techniques and mediums to create unique effects.
Dates: Saturdays,January 3, 10, 17, and 31 (4 sessions)
Times: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Cost: $140.00
Materials Fee: $7 for watercolors, brushes and paper
Minimum Students: 7
Maximum Students: 10
Prerequisite: No previous or minimum experience with watercolor.

A simple photo reference picture and handouts will be given to each student along with a supply list explaining briefly the importance of each item.
Students will be guided through transferring the picture to their watercolor paper as well as mixing appropriate colors. Then the instructor will demonstrate a wash on both dry and wet paper.
You will learn about color mixing in proportion to the amount of water used, for various outcomes.
The 4-session class will also cover problem solving — stressing the flexibility of watercolor. The instructor will address ways to correct errors as they arise.
Students will experiment using techniques with tape, salt and ink where ever an accent or special effect is needed. Time permitting, the instructor will show the tape and credit card technique for birch trees.
By the end of the four-session series you will more confidently approach watercolor and make watercolor part of your creative projects.
Supply List: Any miscellaneous supplies if available such as watercolor brushes, water container, paper towel, small spray bottle, masking tape and waterproof board.

Alla Prima Oil Painting
Learn how to paint from life in a realistic yet expressive way using an alla prima approach.
Dates: Fridays (ongoing)
Times: 6:00 to 9:30 pm
Cost: $85 for a single session. $300 for four sessions
